Airside guideways to close permanently

Tampa International Airport on Oct. 21 will permanently close the guideways in between the shuttles that connect the Main Terminal and Airsides as part of an ongoing effort to enhance safety and security.

These guideways will be closed to all passengers and employees except during emergencies.

The change is necessary to bring TPA in compliance with industry best practices and restores the shuttle guideways to their original purpose as an emergency exit.

Once the new system is implemented, the doors will be locked and alarmed, triggering a notification to the Airport Operations Center if they are opened or an attempt is made to open them.

TPA asks all guests to be mindful of the change and to wait for the Airside shuttles, which arrive approximately every minute during normal operations.
