As Tampa International Airport's TSA PreCheck enrollment center closes, alternatives remain available across Bay area
After more than a decade serving passengers at Tampa International Airport, the TSA PreCheck enrollment center located on the red side of TPA’s Baggage Claim Level has closed. The enrollment center which opened in 2014 closed its doors June 23. CBP's Global Entry Enrollment Center remains open.
Despite the closure, travelers from across the Tampa Bay area can still find numerous off-airport TSA PreCheck enrollment locations. Many of these centers can be found at Staples and Office Depot locations, making it easier for passengers to enroll in the expedited security program without having to make a special trip to the airport or worry about parking.
TSA PreCheck offers significant benefits for frequent flyers, with approximately 99% of passengers waiting less than 10 minutes during security screening. Nationwide, more than 200 airports and over 90 airlines participate in the TSA PreCheck program.
For those interested in enrolling in TSA PreCheck:
- Apply Online: Select an enrollment provider and complete their TSA PreCheck application online in as little as five minutes.
- Visit an Enrollment Location: After applying, applicants can finish the enrollment process at their chosen provider, which includes fingerprinting, document verification, photo capture, and payment—generally taking around 10 minutes.
- Receive Your TSA PreCheck Number: Once approved, members will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which can be added to airline reservations for a more efficient travel experience.
