Aviation Authority Board approves TPA CEO contract for Michael Stephens
Stephens is set to officially take over the CEO role on April 5.
On Thursday, the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board of Directors took a significant step in TPA’s CEO hiring process by approving a new contract for Michael Stephens.
According to the five-year contract, Stephens, who the Board selected in November, will officially take over the CEO role on April 5, the same day current CEO Joe Lopano’s contract ends. Lopano is retiring after 14 years leading the Aviation Authority and TPA, after which Stephens will become the fourth CEO in Airport history.
Stephens will begin his new role after nearly a decade working alongside Lopano as the Authority’s General Counsel. He has also served as the Executive Vice President for Information Technology Services, Human Resources, Government and Community Relations, Risk Management and Business Diversity.
