Bidders Find Forgotten Treasures at Tampa Airport’s Online Auction

January 18, 2013

Jewelry, a bicycle, iPads, a golf bag and suitcases full of clothes. These are some of the items treasure hunters can bid on in Tampa International Airport’s quarterly on-line auction of unclaimed items from “Lost and Found.” The auction runs through January 28 at www.Govdeals.com.

Many items are sold in lots. There are approximately 30 suitcases for sale as one item. Other multi-item lots include 15 boxes of miscellaneous clothing and eight boxes of toys, sporting goods and other items. There are also boxes of jewelry and watches. Some items are sold individually, including two Tag Heuer watches. The watches and other pieces of higher value come with a certificate of appraisal and confirmation of authenticity.

To find the airport auction on the GovDeals website, select “search by location” and enter zip code 33607 for the “Hillsborough County Aviation Authority – Lost and Abandoned Property.” Terms and conditions of the auction including: bidding, payment and pick-up of the items are posted on the website.
