Note: This work is scheduled to resume at 1 a.m. on July 22.

Travelers being dropped off at the Blue Side of Tampa International Airport’s Main Terminal this summer should be aware of a pavement resurfacing project that will require a short detour when they show up for their flights.

The Blue Departures drive to the Ticketing level will be closed for a few weeks beginning July 7 as work crews remove and replace the traffic coating on all four lanes as part of scheduled maintenance to ensure optimal facility quality and traffic flow. The closure is scheduled to last until mid-September.

Guests who are being dropped off for their flights at Blue Side airlines will be directed to instead drive to and get out at the Blue Express Curbsides to enter the Main Terminal.

Signage and Airport staff will direct travelers through the building to reach the Ticketing level on the second floor of the Main Terminal. Curbside bag check-in will be available at the Blue Express Departures drive.

  • Copa Airlines
  • Delta Air Lines

This Blue Departures rehabilitation is part of a larger project that also includes similar work on Level 4 of the Short Term Parking Garage. The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board of Directors approved a contract for almost $3.5 million at its November 2024 meeting to Restocon Corporation to perform work on the project.
