Breeze launches its first international nonstop flight from TPA to Nassau
Along with this route to the Bahamas, the airline will expand to fly to a total of five international destinations from TPA by the end of 2026.
All aboard the fun plane! Breeze Airways made history at Tampa International Airport on Thursday, launching its first-ever nonstop flight from TPA to an international destination by kicking off a route to Nassau, the Bahamas.
The inaugural flight marks the first time in 20 years that an airline has offered jet service from America's Favorite Airport to Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS). The route is available four times per week, giving travelers a convenient way to reach the islands.
TPA hosted a lively gate party to celebrate the milestone, greeting passengers with the bright sounds of a steel drum player, colorful cupcakes, and plenty of giveaways. Airport and Bahamian tourism leaders joined travelers to mark the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony before boarding began.
“This route is special for me,” TPA Chief Operating Officer John Tiliacos said. “As a Bahamian born and raised in Nassau, I’m so proud to see this service between Tampa and Nassau.”
By the end of 2026, Breeze will serve 37 destinations from TPA, including six in the Caribbean and Latin America. Later this year, the airline plans to launch TPA’s first-ever nonstop flights to San José, Costa Rica, along with new service to Cancun, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
Tickets to the island paradise are now available for purchase on the Breeze Airways website: https://www.flybreeze.com/
