Calling all construction workers: Companies hiring for TPA’s Master Plan expansion

(March 1, 2016) Want to work for one of the companies building Tampa International Airport’s historic expansion? There may be a job for you.

On March 5, the Tampa Bay Community Advocacy Committee, in collaboration with Austin Commercial, L.P. and Ariel Business Group, Inc. will host a job fair featuring at least 18 construction and construction-related companies working on TPA’s Master Plan expansion. Austin jobsite at TPA

The fair will connect Tampa Bay area residents with potential employment opportunities for the Master Plan project – as well as other projects now and in the future. Participating companies include major players such as Archer Western, Baker Concrete, Kimmins Contracting, West Tampa Glass, Sutter Roofing and Pinnacle/CSG.

“We continue to be excited about the opportunity to work with the Tampa Bay Community Advocacy Committee in an effort to foster and promote opportunities in the Tampa Bay community,” said Simeon Terry, Vice President of Diversity Affairs for Austin Commercial, L.P.

The job fair will take place Saturday, March 5 at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Library at 1505 N. Nebraska Ave. in Tampa, and will be open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. It’s free and open to construction workers of all skills.

Those wishing to attend should RSVP by calling (813) 812-JOBZ, register online at www.TampaBayCAC.com or by e-mail at TampaBayCAC@gmail.com.

The goal of the Tampa Bay Community Advocacy Committee is to help connect woman- and minority-owned businesses and the community with work. While it was initially created to help Austin engage the community, it has broadened its mission.

“This committee is kind of taking off and getting legs of its own,” said Terry, who helped found the TBCAC. “Whether Austin Commercial is involved or not, we want the TBCAC to be a go-to entity to help contractors connect with the community.”

Terry said the TBCAC is for everyone. “The mission is to service the Tampa Bay community, period,” he said.

The March 5 event will be the group’s third event, to date. They previously held a job readiness workshop and a meet and greet to help prepare individuals for the upcoming job fair.
