Exit ramp from TPA to I-275 southbound to close for one night
Traffic will be rerouted to Dale Mabry Highway the night of March 24 so crews can paint lanes and shift traffic to the new Howard Frankland Bridge southbound lanes.
An upcoming overnight detour will restrict access to Interstate 275 southbound for drivers leaving Tampa International Airport for Pinellas County.
In preparation for opening the new span of the Howard Frankland Bridge, construction crews will be closing the exit to I-275 southbound from the George J. Bean Parkway from 11 p.m. on the night of March 24 until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Detour signs will direct drivers to the southbound on-ramp to I-275 at Dale Mabry Highway, which will allow travelers to get on the Interstate and head to Pinellas County as normal.
The closure is necessary to allow workers to restripe lanes and shift southbound traffic to the new bridge. Exits to I-275 from the Veterans Expressway, Cypress Street and Kennedy Boulevard also will be closed during this time.
Please allow time to navigate the detour if you are departing TPA during one of these closures. In case of inclement weather, this detour will move to the night of March 25.
