Exits from TPA to alternate closings for Westshore Interchange construction
The two ramps for SR 60 and the northbound Veterans Expressway from the George J. Bean Parkway will be shutting down on different dates overnight starting March 9, so please watch detour signs.
A detour that will restrict access to the Courtney Campbell Causeway and the Veterans Expressway from Tampa International Airport at different times over the next few weeks may affect drivers leaving the Airport.
Construction crews will close exits for State Road 60 West/Clearwater or State Road 589 North/Veterans Expressway from the George J. Bean Parkway from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on different nights starting March 9.
One exit will be closed and the other will remain open depending on the night, so traffic will be routed to the other exit to reach their destination. Crews will occasionally need to close both exits simultaneously. Detours are expected to last into the summer.
The closures are part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s work on the Westshore Interchange south of TPA and are necessary to complete asphalt milling and resurfacing on the project.
The detour is similar to other closures for the project that have periodically occurred since last fall.
Please allow time to navigate the detour if you are departing TPA during one of these closures.
This work is part of FDOT’s Westshore Interchange Reconstruction project. You may find more details about the project here: https://www.fdottampabay.com/project/841/447107-1-52-01
