International travel made easier through TPA

Convenient non-stops and countless connections have TPA passengers indulging in international travel.

Whether you’re dreaming of hiking to medieval castles in Germany or sipping tea in England, your bucket list trip is only a few clicks away. With so many nonstop and one-stop connections from Tampa now, it’s never been a better time to plan that fall, winter or spring getaway vacation.

Since 2011, TPA has increased its international service by more than 150 percent – putting the “international” in Tampa International Airport, which only served a few international destinations 10 years ago. Today, with 17 nonstop international routes and hundreds of convenient one-stop connections, the Airport makes it easy for locals to hop the pond and travel abroad.

In March 2019, TPA’s latest European route to Amsterdam opened up opportunities for travelers visiting mainland Europe.

“First of all it’s a nonstop international flight, and this type of air service has been a top priority for us,” said Airport CEO, Joe Lopano. ”Not only do these flights allow our residents to explore the world, but they bring worldwide visitors into Tampa.”

Along with Amsterdam, three other mainland European routes – London, Frankfurt and Zurich – have opened a world of possibilities to our residents. One-stop connections like Paris, Rome and Budapest make TPA the perfect point of origin for any adventure abroad.

International routes at TPA have not only been a popular gateway for local businesspeople and wanderlusters, but they have also greatly impacted the Tampa economy.

Between 2012 to 2018 international travel into TPA has supported approximately 17,800 annual jobs, $579.4 million in labor income, $1.6 billion in industry activity, and generated about $88.8 million in tax revenue according to an economic impact analysis.

The Airport expects to serve more than 22 million passengers by the end of Fiscal Year 19, and international destinations continue to be targeted.
