Long Term walkway to close for demolition

Tampa International Airport will permanently close the west side Transfer Level bridge between the Long Term Garage and the Main Terminal on Sept. 9 as part of the blue express curbside expansion project.

All guests and employees will still be able to use the east side bridge, located just a couple hundred feet away. Crews have placed directional signage at either end of the walkway to advise people of the change, which is expected to have minimal passenger impacts.

The express curbside project, which provides new curbs for passengers without checked luggage, includes eight new lanes, a vertical circulation building and a new centralized walkway that will ultimately replace both of the Transfer Level bridges.

The Blue curbside expansion is part of TPA’s Master Plan Phase 2, which will ultimately allow the Airport to serve 34 million passengers annually.
