Overnight detours planned to install overhead roadway signage

Road crews are installing a new overhead parkway sign that will require the complete closure of the outbound George J. Bean Parkway for two nights this month. All visitors leaving TPA during this detour will be directed out of the airport via the Spruce Street exit to the south of the Rental Car Center.

The Outbound Parkway will be closed twice for construction:

  • Monday, Nov. 9 at 10 p.m. to Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 4 a.m.
  • Monday, Nov. 16 at 10 p.m. to Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 4 a.m.

Visitors and guests will also see several lane closures this month as part of the work. The lane closures will not require any detours.

TPA expects to see additional roadway closures in the future as work on the roadway expansion, including new sign structures, continues. In total, the roadway project is expected to involve approximately 40 nights of detours through the fall.
