ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS: TPA to open new exit ramp for passengers, guests

Leaving the Economy Garage and nearby Cell Phone Waiting Lot is about to get easier.

Early Wednesday, TPA will unveil a brand new Airport exit ramp for guests trying to get onto I-275 – either towards Tampa or St. Petersburg - that will streamline the exit process.

The change, which is part of a massive TPA roadway improvement project, eliminates choke points and congestion while simplifying the exit for guests on the southern end of the Airport’s property.

In addition to this roadway change, the Airport's roadway project will also add a lane to both the inbound and outbound Parkway, increasing roadway capacity. The project also adds all-new roadway signage throughout the campus.

These enhancements, while subtle for most visitors, will help allow the Airport to handle up to 34 million annual passengers – a key goal of the Master Plan expansion.

All of the major roadway work is expected to be complete before Thanksgiving.
