Spirit Airlines adds four spring break routes at TPA

Spirit Airlines has announced four new routes for travelers seeking a warm getaway in the coming months, in anticipation of what is expected to be a record-setting spring break travel season at Tampa International Airport.

Spirit will offer nonstop service from Kansas City (MCI), Memphis (MEM), Milwaukee (MKE) and Nashville (BNA) at varying frequencies between early March and early April, aligning with the highest traffic period TPA experiences each year.

Starting from March 7 and through April 9, Spirit Airlines will operate flights from Kansas City and Memphis three times per week. The Milwaukee route will operate four weekly flights between March 6 and April 8. The Nashville route will be in service four times a week from March 8 to April 8.

“Tampa’s many attractions and unique culture make it a fun spring break destination, and Spirit’s new seasonal nonstop flights will make it easier for our Guests in Kansas City, Memphis, Milwaukee and Nashville to visit Florida’s Gulf Coast,” said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines. “The additional routes also give our Tampa guests an affordable and convenient way to explore four new destinations this spring.” 

The addition of these routes underscores the growing demand for travel to the Tampa Bay area, particularly during the spring break period, when TPA welcomes a significant influx of visitors seeking sunshine, beaches and vibrant entertainment options.

“Airlines are seeing very heavy demand for peak season travel to Tampa Bay,” said Alex Heiter, TPA's Director of Air Service Development. “Spirit’s additional services are a key indicator of the tremendous popularity of our region for visitors from around the world .”

Spirit’s announcement is part of a broader trend of airlines adding available seats to meet escalating travel demand. TPA is expecting record-high passenger numbers this spring, with several days projected to bring more than 100,000 travelers each through the Airport.
