Tampa Airport Makes List of ‘Most Loved’ Airports

November 28, 2011

TAMPA – Tampa International Airport has won countless awards since it first opened in 1971 from travel staples like Condé Nast and J.D. Power and Associates for everything from design and efficiency to customer service. Now there is a new accolade to add to the list: One of the Most Loved.

CNNgo.com, a CNN website devoted to international travel and tourism, recently rated Tampa International Airport #6 in its rating of the top 10 most loved airports.

Unlike other online polls that rate airports on standardized categories, the CNN survey awarded airports based on characteristics like uniqueness and charm. The article recognizes Tampa for its “affable Floridian staff” and “tasteful galleria of shops” among its many favorable traits.

Other airports making the list include international favorites Singapore Changi and Hong Kong International. Tampa International Airport is the only U.S. airport to make the list.

The Aviation Authority began in 1945 as an independent special district governed by the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Act. The act provides the Authority with exclusive jurisdiction, control, supervision, and management over all public airports in Hillsborough County. Although empowered to levy ad valorem property taxes, the authority has not collected any tax funds since 1973. Recognized as an industry leader in efficiency and convenience, Tampa International Airport continues to earn the most prestigious awards and honors and ranks among the top airports in the United States. With 200 daily departures and service to over 70 nonstop destinations, Tampa International Airport is the Gateway to Florida’s West Coast and your next great vacation.
