Tampa Airport Welcomes Sun Country

May 17, 2012

TAMPA – Minneapolis/St. Paul based airline Sun Country will offer nonstop service from Tampa four times a week beginning in December.

“We’re delighted to add a new airline to our air service options,” said Chris Minner, Vice President of Marketing for Tampa International Airport. “And we’re delighted to connect more travelers from the Midwest to all that the West Coast of Florida has to offer. When these flights start in December, our beaches, museums and theme parks will provide a great escape from the winter weather up north.”

Tampa is also the latest addition to Sun Country’s cruise package options. The airline offers more than 170 weekly nonstop flights from its Midwestern home base. Founded in 1982, Sun Country has been named a Top Ten Domestic Airline by Travel+Leisure and Condé Nast Travelers.

The airline announced its new Tampa service this week along with new service to Huatulco, Mexico.

“Tampa and Huatulco are destined to become a favorite among Sun Country customers,” said Stan Gadek, president and CEO of Sun Country Airlines.

Introductory fares from Tampa to Minneapolis/St. Paul start at $170 one way with service on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
