Tampa International Airport Celebrates Cuba Month

(June 6, 2013) - Tampa International Airport invites everyone to celebrate Cuban culture and learn more about travel opportunities to the island nation from Tampa during Cuba Month.

Every Friday in June, the airport is hosting events featuring live music, food tastings, and cultural activities celebrating Cuba.

  • June 7, 2 to 3 p.m. – Live Entertainment by Gumby Ortiz y Su Pikete and Cuban sandwich sampling from the Columbia Café
  • June 14, 2 to 3 p.m. – Entertainment by Son De Mi Tiera and Cuban sandwich sampling from the Columbia Café
  • June 21, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. – Music performance by Son De Mi Tiera and dancers from Salsamania
  • June 28, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. – Cigar rolling demonstration, Juan Carlos Santana painting demonstration, live music, Cigar City Brewery beer tasting

All events are free and open to the public. Join us in the main terminal, level 3, between Airsides A and C.

The airport has also launched a new website, www.Gotocuba.org, to provide details on travel to Cuba, including the guidelines for obtaining the proper authorization. Whether you are looking to reconnect with family, conduct research, or visit for occupational, religious or humanitarian purposes, the website will help you determine your next step in planning a trip to Cuba.

Tampa International Airport launched nonstop flights to Cuba in September 2011. Since then, nearly 70,000 travelers have taken advantage of the flights. Travel service providers ABC Charters and Island Travel and Tours operate four flights per week to Cuba, with service to Havana and Holguin.
