TPA reopens following Hurricane Milton

The Airport resumed commercial and cargo operations Friday morning as the Tampa Bay region recovers from the storm, which caused some damage across its 3,300-acre campus.

Tampa International Airport officially reopened to the public at 8 a.m. Friday after a three-day flight suspension due to Hurricane Milton. The extreme wind gusts and heavy rainfall from the Category 3 storm impacted several areas of the airport campus that will need repairs. Airport partners are also evaluating staffing levels following one of the biggest evacuation events in recent Tampa Bay history.

The airport is currently fully operational while cleanup and repairs continue. Passengers should continue checking with their airlines for the latest flight information. For passenger awareness:

The Rental Car Center is open
All TPA parking garages are open
Dining and retail locations are open in the Main Terminal and at each Airside but hours may vary

Among some challenges the Airport is still addressing:

Crews are clearing debris and repairing minor damage across the campus
Six boarding bridges that move passengers from the Airsides to aircraft were damaged by high winds
General Aviation fixed-base operator, Signature, has some significant structural damage, though no aircraft damage has been reported.
