Tampa International To Temporarily Close One Lane of Entrance Road for Construction

One of three inbound lanes of the George J. Bean Parkway will temporarily close around the Taxiway J Bridge next week due to construction related to Tampa International Airport’s Master Plan expansion.

The closure will last from May 10 to May 22.

Travelers may experience heavy traffic entering the airport, especially during peak hours. All passengers and guests are asked to follow the posted speed limits and other signage in the construction area, and to be mindful of workers.

The lane closure is one of several roadway changes coming in the near future.

Later this month, all three inbound lanes of the George Bean Parkway will be rerouted to a temporary roadway around the Taxiway J Bridge, which is being demolished and rebuilt to accommodate TPA’s new automated people mover. The move to a temporary road will allow construction crews to demolish the bridge span over the existing inbound parkway lanes.

Passenger travel time to the airport will not be affected.

Later this summer, crews will reroute and reduce the outbound lanes of the George J. Bean Parkway from three to two. Some travelers may experience heavy traffic exiting the airport, especially during peak hours and during holiday travel seasons. Traffic coming into the airport will not be impacted.
