Tampa’s newest office building, SkyCenter One, ready for tenants

The first tenants at SkyCenter One are moving in.

Late last week, VanTrust Real Estate received the all-important Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Tampa, clearing the way for tenants to officially move into the Westshore district’s newest office space. J.E. Dunn, which built the facility, is moving into a space on the second floor, while Avison Young Commercial Real Estate is not far behind.

The Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, which runs TPA, will occupy three floors of the building – Levels 3, 4, 5 – with SkyCenter serving as the nerve center for all of the Airport’s operations. The Authority will begin moving in early 2022.

SkyCenter One stands apart from other Tampa Bay office buildings due to its central location, top-end amenities and direct connection to the Airport’s Main Terminal.

“It’s not just the location at the Airport, which is huge, but SkyCenter is located at the geographic center of the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater region,” said John Carey, Executive Vice President with VanTrust. “SkyCenter One is ideal for those companies looking for a central Tampa Bay location, easy access to the airport, tremendous nearby restaurants and retail, beautiful outdoor work space, and much more.”

The building’s amenities, he added, are second-to-none for this type of office project.

The office building features a nearly 6,000 square-foot fitness center, complete with about three dozen pieces of equipment, including a wide range of weights and cardio machines. The men’s and women’s locker rooms are equipped with about 50 lockers, five showers and will offer towel service. The building also offers a 3,200 square-foot café, well-appointed conference rooms, bike storage and access to multipurpose trails that will eventually connect into Tampa Bay’s regional trail network.

"This is a milestone that was years in the making for both Tampa International Airport and VanTrust," said Randy Forister, TPA’s Director of Commercial Real Estate. "Watching this building go up, and seeing the progress both inside and out has been something to behold, and we now have one of the most unique and well-equipped office buildings in the Tampa Bay region. I can't wait for our team to move in early next year."
