TPA supports nationwide #DroneWeek

Tampa International Airport on Monday joined the Federal Aviation Administration for the country’s first-ever National Drone Safety Awareness Week.

The weeklong event, which runs from Nov. 4 through Nov. 10, raises awareness about how to safety and effectively operate unmanned aircraft. TPA hosted a drone safety demonstration Monday afternoon at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park (click here for the video!).

Safe drone operation is an increasingly important issue for the FAA and airports around the country. To date, there are nearly 1.5 million drones registered to fly in the United States, resulting in a greater number of aircraft in the sky and a greater risk for commercial planes.
