TPA to temporarily close Blue Arrivals curbside to speed up construction

Passengers and guests coming to Tampa International Airport may soon see temporary construction closures and detours tied to ongoing work on the Airport’s new express curbside project.

Beginning Thursday, April 23 at 5 a.m., the Blue Arrivals curbsides will be closed to all guests and all passengers will be detoured to Blue Departures. The closure is expected to last through May 2 at 8 p.m.

The Airport does not expect any significant operational impacts.

The closure is necessary to install seven drilled shafts to support a new bridge for the express curb lanes, which will serve as pickup and drop off for passengers without checked luggage.

The prolonged closure is made possible by the overall reduction in passenger numbers due to COVID-19, which allows crews to work for longer periods during the day, speeding up the project.
