TPA’s 5K on the Runway coming April 11
The popular event sells out quickly every year, but there are still ways to get involved.

Get ready to lace up your running shoes for takeoff! Registration for Tampa International Airport’s popular 5K on the Runway opens at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026. With only 2,000 spots available, this unique race is expected to sell out quickly.
Returning for its 12th year on Saturday, April 11, 2026, the annual event invites participants to run alongside active aircraft taking off and landing for a truly unforgettable experience.
Last year’s race sold out in right around 13 hours, so anyone hoping to join should sign up early Thursday morning after registration opens. The entry fee is $60.
The 5K course takes runners along TPA’s Runway 10-28, and registration includes a commemorative T-shirt, finisher’s medal, post-race breakfast provided by Waypointe TPA’s restaurants, and a chance to win raffle prizes, including airline tickets and other exciting giveaways. Proceeds benefit United Way Suncoast, supporting programs that strengthen the Tampa Bay community.
Volunteer and sponsorship opportunities are also available for those looking to be part of the action without running.
