Tampa International Airport ranked No. 1 in industry benchmarking Airport Service Quality Awards

This morning, Airports Council International announced that Tampa International Airport has been ranked #1 in its annual Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards among North American airports with 15-25 million passengers for calendar year 2021. TPA was also named to the Best Hygiene Measures by Region list, which is a relatively new category in response to the pandemic and just completed its first full year of survey data.

The ASQ Awards use passenger survey data to identify the industry’s best performing airports around the world using 34 key indicators including cleanliness, amenities, helpfulness of staff, wayfinding and security. In 2021, ASQ conducted more than 370,000 surveys, helping to identify trends, set benchmarks and gauge passenger expectations so airports can better serve the needs of customers.

While topping ASQ and other customer survey lists is not new for TPA, this one is especially sweet during a year of recovery and transition in light of the pandemic. As TPA workers across the Airport campus worked hard to adapt to new health and safety measures and staff shortages during a time when traffic was rapidly returning, the Airport continued to aim for excellence.

“Despite the many new challenges and procedures that COVID-19 has thrown our way, we continue to excel at meeting today’s evolving traveler demands and delivering the highest level of customer service,” Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano said. “This also goes for our concessionaires, TSA, and many other partners who help shape the passenger experience. We set the highest bar at TPA, and doing so during a pandemic has not been simple or easy.”
