Public Meetings Scheduled for Master Plan

April 9, 2012

TAMPA - The entire Tampa Bay area community is invited to participate in a series of public meetings on the update of Tampa International Airport's master plan.

The first meeting is set for April 11 at 6 p.m. in the airport boardroom. Future public meetings will be scheduled this summer and fall. Additional sessions are scheduled for key stakeholders.

"The update is a collaborative effort, and input from anyone with an interest in the airport is crucial," said airport CEO Joe Lopano.

Work on the master plan began late last year and is scheduled for completion in early 2013.

Ultimately, taking into account forecasts for passenger growth, the plan will provide an outline of airport improvements and future land use to better serve passengers, airlines and other tenants as well as regional tourism, transportation and business growth.

Areas of study include the main terminal; rental car facilities; international terminal facilities; the south property at the entrance to the airport; the transportation corridor that leads from the airport entrance to the main terminal; the east property located south of Hillsborough Avenue and adjacent to the Drew Park neighborhood; and the north property.
