Tampa International Airport Receives High Marks for Safety

TAMPA – For the 16th year in a row, Tampa International Airport passed its Annual Certification Inspection conducted by the FAA without a single discrepancy. 

The annual review covers everything from airport emergency planning to wildlife management, fueling operations, aircraft rescue and firefighting, employee training, runway and taxiway signage and paving markings. 

“The year-after-year affirmation from the FAA is testament to our team’s commitment to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance,” said Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano.

The FAA notified the airport of the inspection results on June 26. 

Tampa International Airport serves nearly 17 million passengers every year, with four airside terminals and three runways, which are 11,000 feet, 8,300 feet and 7,000 feet. The runways and taxiways are operated and maintained by airport staff. TPA’s Airport Rescue Fire Fighting station is operated by Tampa Fire Rescue. 

The FAA issues Airport Operating Certificates to ensure safety in air transportation. To obtain a certificate, an airport must agree to certain operational and safety standards. The FAA inspects airports annually to guarantee they continue to meet those standards.
